CB West Needed A Win In The Worst Way

Central Bucks West 53, Souderton 47

CB West needed a win in the worst way and jumped up 20 in the first half before holding on for the win on Tuesday night.

It was the first victory of the season for the Bucks.

“We’ve been learning as we go along,” said West coach Adam Sherman. “It was a hard situation for us with the pandemic. Having 10 seniors last year and not having an offseason set the program back a little.

“We’re trying to figure it out personnel wise. There’s a lot of stuff we would have ironed out in the offseason that we weren’t able to, so unfortunately we have to do it now.

“We have a very young team. Only one guy saw varsity playing time last year in Teddy Spratt, but the guys all have good attitudes and they’re getting better each day.”

Sherman said his team shot the ball well, especially from 3-point range, and defensively the Bucks were able to get stops when they needed to at an important part of the game.

“John Lee played really well,” Sherman said. “Donte Mancini played well. Everybody played fairly well. We received nice contributions from everybody.”

Lee led West (1-5, 1-4 SOL)  with 16 points, while Spratt had 12 and Mancini had 11. Sherman’s team plays at North Penn on Friday.

Souderton (1-4, 1-4 SOL), which was led by Shaun Purvy’s 10 points, plays at CB South on Friday.
