It Took A Gutsy Fourth Quarter For Pennridge

Pennridge 48, Central Bucks South 43

It took a gutsy fourth quarter for Pennridge, as the Rams shook off a loss to Souderton on Friday with the five-point win over CB South Tuesday night.

“Our kids dug in defensively,” said Pennridge coach Dean Behrens. “Our kids played tough. We held them to 43 points. I’ll take that every night, but we have to be consistent on the defensive end every possession if we’re going to win games. We’re not going to go out and drop 80 on them. That’s not how we’re built.”

Tied going into the fourth, the Rams outscored the Titans 14-9 in the final quarter.

“Colin Post went on a little run – he had two big layups, finishes around the basket in the fourth quarter,” Behrens said. “We really did rebound the ball well in the fourth quarter and did a little more offensively. Our scoring was diverse tonight.”

Senior Colin Monahan had 13 to lead Pennridge, while sophomore Matt Campione added 10, as did Luke Yoder, while Post had nine.

Taking care of business on the glass was key for the Rams too, battling South’s inside combination of 6-foot-7 Mike Farley and 6-5 Tyler Meinel.

“We were concerned with Farley and the Meinel kid,” Behrens said. “They’re 6-7, 6-5 and our tallest guy is 6-2 at the most. They really hurt us on the offensive glass.

“Monahan and Luke Yoder did a nice job. (Yoder) can really go get the ball at the top of the circle. The problem is, Farley would miss a shot from five feet, getting his own rebound and score on the putback. In the fourth quarter, I thought we did a better job.”

CB South was led by Farley’s 14 points, while Jay Macalindong added eight. The Titans (2-3, 2-3 SOL) host Souderton on Friday.

Pennridge (4-3, 3-2 SOL) is back in action at Central Bucks East on Friday.
