Council Rock South 52, William Tennent 49
Needing a win to help secure a spot in the District One Class 6A playoffs, CR South started strong and then held off a Tennent charge in the fourth quarter for the three-point win on Tuesday.
Luke Meakim and Kevin McNamee had 14 points each to lead the Golden Hawks. Meakim hit three 3-pointers, while Meakim scored six key points in the fourth quarter. Luca Baratta also had three 3-pointers and finished the game with 13 points.
CR South (14-7, 7-4 SOL) entered Tuesday in the No. 19 position in the District One power rankings, so the win likely secures its spot in the 24-team tournament that starts next week. The Hawks host rival CR North on Thursday.
Tennent (11-10, 5-6 SOL) was led by Daulton Zeaman, who had five 3-pointers and 17 points, while Derrik Cosenza finished with 12. The Panthers started the day at No. 22, but has now lost four straight games, with a critical road game Thursday at Harry S. Truman remaining.
