five three pointers propel the Indians to a halftime lead

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 53, WEST WINDSOR-PLAINSBORO NORTH 44

Luke Vliet buried five 3-pointers – all in the first half – to propel the Indians to a 31-15 halftime lead. He finished with a game-high 19 points.

“Our boys came to play today,” Rock North coach Jesse Krasna said. “We got off to a fast start and had numerous clean looks early on because we shared the ball, got so many offensive rebounds and won 50-50 balls.

“Connor Rushing and Sean Clancy rebounded well, and Luke Vliet caught fire in the first half and his teammates did a great job finding him when he was open. Hunter Wan routinely got into the paint and made plays for himself and his teammates. Connor also attacked the rim and put the defense on their heels.”

Hunter Wan scored all nine of his points in the first half.  Bernie Parent also had nine points.

West Windsor outscored the Indians 29-22 in in the second half but never could make up the ground they lost in the first half.

“We defended well early in the game but in the second half West Windsor got hot from beyond the arc and they made a nice comeback,” Krasna said. “Our boys showed great resiliency and poise to withstand their run and finish the game off late in the fourth quarter.”

Council Rock North (4-15, 1-9 SOL) will host Bensalem on Tuesday.
