Villanova Jalen Brunson Named Big East Player of the Year

Jalen Brunson was named Big East Player of the Year today as well as Big East Scholar Athlete of the Year. The Junior guard joins Josh Hart, Kerry Kittles, Ryan Arcidiacono, and Randy Foye as the fifth Villanova player to earn Big East POY honors. Brunson was one of three unanimous choices for All-Big East First Team earlier this week – meaning that Seniors, Trevon Bluiett and Kelan Martin were his primary competition for this award.

Brunson is well positioned to receive one or more of the major National Player of the Year Awards (Naismith, Wooden, AP) when they are announced in the coming weeks. So far this week, Brunson has been named National Player of the Year by The Sporting News, USA Today, NCAA.com, and NBCSports. Villanova all-timer, Paul Arizin is the only Wildcat to earn a National POY award (Arizin earned Sporting News National POY in 1950).
